Hold a key. Pick what you need.
This animation shows TextEdit: hold e to open Breve’s accent menu, then press 2 to replace e with é in “Café at 10?”. In a second draft, hold r and press 1 to insert the custom saved reply “Thanks, I’ll take a look.” Choose by number or click in the app. No typing is needed on this page.

You set the order.
In Key Mappings, add your own text or search for a character by name. Drag choices into order. Each choice’s position sets the number you press to select it.
Add a second set of choices to the same key, then hold Option to switch to it.
Undo and redo are available while you edit.

Before you buy
Setup includes granting Accessibility access, installing a helper, and selecting a keyboard input source. You’ll also need to log out and back in, so save your work first.
How do I set up Breve?
Move Breve to Applications and open it. The setup guide walks you through granting Accessibility access and installing the helper. Log out and back in, then add QUARANTAB0X Input under English in Keyboard Settings. Keep it selected while using Breve.
What are the limits?
Each choice can contain one line of plain text, up to 64 characters or 256 UTF-8 bytes, whichever limit you reach first. You can assign menus to letter or symbol keys, but not number keys or spaces. Text formatting isn’t supported.
Will Breve work in my apps?
Compatibility depends on the app, keyboard layout, and input method. The menu appears by your text cursor when Breve can locate it, or by your mouse pointer otherwise. If you’d like to check a specific setup before buying, email me: hi@usebreve.app
How does Breve handle privacy?
Breve handles your typing and stores your menu choices on your Mac. It connects to the internet to check for updates; you can turn these checks off. It sends diagnostic reports only when you choose to submit one. When macOS secure input is active, Breve leaves keystrokes unchanged.
Can I use my menus on another Mac?
Export your menus as a .breve file, then import it on the other Mac. Importing replaces that Mac’s current menus after you confirm. Menus don’t sync automatically between Macs.
